SchnelleTour: BUILT!

After being sidetracked many times, the SchnelleTour is finally built up.  It really needs to be shot with better lighting or in daylight to show off its luster.  The ride is quite smooth, and swift, just as the name implies (if you know German).

C/T lug update

just putting some more fixin’s on it…  Needs cleaning, flux removal, etc…  Then I’ll mock it up with the parts and build the custom racks.  Front rack will be a wide, shallow basket, asym & headlight of course.   Rear rack will b’long….  BE LONG….  sorry for the busy background, I’ll be working on a solid color background.

bamboo update

max is back and ready to beta test the bamboo bike.  since last sighting, carbon fiber was added to the bamboo/steel junctions.  I added some brake bosses in the rear only, for fishtailing.    All parts on this bike, are or were found, donated, borrowed (with permission), or borrowed (without permission).  Oh, and yes, that is a bamboo handlebar.  max’ll test ride this.

clock change

swapped the hands on the clock for a more appropriate style.  I was considering only installing the red hour hand, so that when it hits time 100, I know I can leave.  But that may imply I would need to be there from time 0, which equates to approx 7:30AM, which I can’t do until we get heat back.

C/T Lugged moving along

finished the basic build on this frame also.  taking a breather because I’ve been at it for a while here and also because the studio is frikkin cold lately.  dangit.   I think this is an older photo, but new ones will be posted after I install brake bosses, rack mounts, fender mounts, cable stops and  other frame fixin’s.  This frame will also get custom fitted racks, front’n'rear, suited for both local and long distance.

small lug ready for customization

finished the base small lug frame recently (sans seatstay bridge, chainstay bridge, finish filing of seattube, cable stops/guides, rack mounts, racks).  Here it is.  Shortly custom finishes (described above) will be added to complete the frame.  A true design/build collaboration.

Stays & front triangle

Made bends in the dropouts and filed slight shape to them – slotted chain stays & brazed – inserted seat stay caps and brazed’m too.  I have to admit that I do like the obvious truth of the dropout/chainstay junction.

Also made a first pass cleaning of the front triangle:
