small lug front triangle together

putting the small lugged frame together is coming along, despite studio temps in the 30′s.  now this is ready for cleanup and seat/chain stay build.  Then it is on to client/builder customizations.  also a few photos of the mitering that goea behind the lugs.  recently someone (who doesn’t build frames) was letting me know how easy it was to put a lugged frame together, “well, you just stick the tubes in the lugs and solder them, jus’ like plumin’, like sweatin’ copper pipe”.  exactly.

every frame shop needs a shop cat

… according to Tim Paterek.  and this is 1/25th mine.  it’s a shared shop cat with my other neighbors.  don’t know if it is male or female.  or its real name.  I declare it a male and call him KITT (pronounced kit-tee, with reverence to Knight Industries TWO Thousand).  You have to see his eyes move left to right.

Cafe / Tour is tacked and set for a sabatical whilest I build up the small – lug bicycle.  The shop building boiler is now broken, providing the cold temps I like so much – Now, I’ll be able to stay awake.

workin’ on a CAFE / TOUR lug version

take the CAFE / TOUR, remove the compact geometry, curve the chainstays instead of the seatstays, use lugged construction, and you get this, the C/T Lugged…  Should be complete with the basic build (sans braze-ons) very very soon…

Makin’ some tools…

Needed a better alignment table and a table top bike stand (and I could another stand too!)

SchnelleTour and PHLrack back from paint

in a nice britsh racing green.  This is really tough paint!  I’ll build it after I finish a couple of lugged bicycles.  Stay tuned..

Headbadge

Working on a new headbadge design for the new company name.  Simple in design, it is intended to be used on TIG welded bicycles.  Perhaps a serif font will be more appropriate for lugged bicycles, or other design altogether.   And in the end it all depends on what the collaborator wants…

New Year – New Studio Layout

Hope all y’all enjoyed your holidays and are looking forward a great ’11.  I spent a lot of time with family this holiday season and upon my return to the studio, man, I realized it needed a logistical reorg.

and a clock, “Pressure”.
